Earlier today, North Hunterdon Senior wrestler Jackie Dougherty won gold at the Forks County Girls Wrestling Tournament in Pennsylvania today in dominant fashion, winning every match in her round-robin style bracket. Jackie is a first year wrestler for North and has been making statements her entire season thus far, and had this to say in a post-tournament interview:
Jackie, you placed first today, how are you feeling after getting your gold medal?
“I’m feeling pretty good! I’m pretty excited, I went 5-0!”
North lost a lot of talent this year with all of the seniors leaving last year, and you’ve been filling in that spot in only your first year. How are you feeling looking ahead to the rest of your season?
“I definitely feel that I have a good shot at making it kind of far, going somewhere with it. I don’t know. Considering wrestling in college, but I don’t really know yet.”
What’s one word to describe the Lady Lions Wrestling team?
“Aggressive.”

Jackie looks to add more hardware to her collection, and is having an incredible season so far, and all at The Dyspatch wish her luck!
