In sports, it’s rare for a day that brings much significance to align with a day you’re competing, but that’s exactly what happened to Bella Hoffman. Bella is a senior at North Hunterdon and a swimmer fully committed to UConn. Bella also loves photography and videography, having her own social accounts as well as working for Bench Warmer Banter. On December 18th, 2004, Bella Hoffman was born. On December 18th, 2022, Bella Hoffman was swimming. After placing fourth in the 200 meter backstroke, Bella had a few things to say in a post-race interview.
How did it feel to swim at Rutgers today?
I feel decent about it. I’m not where I’m supposed to be, but it works for the time being.
What was competing on your birthday like?
A little bit stressful, not going to lie. I’ve had this meet every year on my birthday for the last three years, so it kind of sucks, but at the same time it’s somewhat of a cool birthday tradition.
What are your expectations for the rest of the season?
Hoping to drop more time.
Any fun plans going on for the rest of your birthday?
Going home and eating a lot of ice cream!
Bella is looking to drop more time this season, but I’m not so sure the ice cream will help, although it is well deserved on her 18th birthday. This won’t be the last time we see Bella this season and we wish her luck with the back half of her season!
