AEW Dynamite (5/19): 2 title matches, Christian Cage in Action!!

Last week on Dynamite… we had 3 world title clashes and we saw one of the best tag teams break up, we saw the return of a Japanese legend but fell short to one of the best in the world right now, and finally we saw a title change in convincing fashion in a way we’ve never seen the TNT Champion be handled before. Miro, your new TNT Champion and it looks like he’s gonna be holding onto this title for a long time. This week on Dynamite you’ll see 2 title matches and more importantly more build up for AEW Double or Nothing on May 30th.

The Acclaimed vs Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston

The controversial group named Acclaimed who haven’t been shy about what they say or do, they’ve been impressive so far in their young careers with a 8-2 record as a tag team. Anthony Bowens and Max Caster will try to put their names on the map but it won’t be an easy task, they’ll be going up against one of the strongest teams AEW has to offer in Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston. Since becoming a tag team they’re 4-0 and they’re gonna try to become 5-0 over a inexperienced, cocky, young team but Moxley and Kingston won’t let these buffoons get into their heads.

Hikaru Shida vs Rebel (Non-Title)

This will be the 1st time we’ve seen the AEW Women’s Champion in action in little over a month since her title defence against Tay Conti. We are aware now that Shida will be defending her Women’s Championship against #1 ranked Britt Baker at the upcoming PPV, Britt is most likely her biggest opponent to this date and Shida will need as much warm up as possible. Her opponent will be Britt Baker’s minion Rebel who we haven’t seen a lot of so we don’t know what we’re gonna see here but I think we all know what’s gonna happen here unless Britt tries to get involved.

We hear from the new TNT Champion Miro

After a complete annihilation of the former TNT Champion Darby Allin, Miro looks to begin his reign at the top of TNT. After the match last week we saw the Murder Hawk Monster come out and confront Miro, will we see more of this? Will it be Miro vs Lance Archer at Double or Nothing? I would say for any normal man that versing Miro right now wouldn’t be the best in your interest but Lance Archer isn’t just any normal dude. Looking forward to seeing what happens here and see if a new contender rises up and tries to knock off the Best Man.

Anthony Ogogo vs Austin Gunn

In preparation for his biggest match in his life at Double or Nothing, Anthony Ogogo will be looking for another impressive win and build his resume before his match with Cody. Ogogo has been very impressive so far in his short tenure in AEW taking out the Nightmare Family left and right with his Gold Glove right hand. Speaking of the Nightmare Family he’ll be going up against one in Austin Gunn. Gunn has a very impressive 26-1 record even though most of them are against jabronies on Dark but it’s still impressive for a 26 year old. You can really see the Billy Gunn in him but faster and more elusive which he could use to avoid that Ogogo right hand.

Christian Cage vs Matt Sydal

The 3rd match in his return to professional wrestling Christian Cage will be versus for the 1st time ever Matt Sydal. You should expect a really good match from these two fellas, both men are gonna be looking to get an upper hand on each other before their Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing. Getting as much momentum for this Battle Royale will be key because if you win that match you’ll be guaranteed a match for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship sometime in the future. The Instant Classic will surely have another one tonight against a guy who’s had a chip on his shoulder his whole career.

The Inner Circle Responds to The Pinnacle’s Challenge

Last week we saw the Inner Circle ruin The Pinnacle’s celebration that wrestling fans have seen before. MJF got so ticked off that he offered the Inner Circle a Stadium Stampede Match and if the Inner Circle loses they need to break up for good. Now Chris Jericho and his boys have to decide what they want here because The Pinnacle has the upper hand and sociological advantage over the Inner Circle with their win at Blood & Guts. Let’s just wait and see what le champion has to say about this and let’s hope we get Stadium Stampede II !!

NWA Women’s World Championship Match

Serena Deeb (c) vs Red Velvet

The returning Serena Deeb will defend her NWA Women’s Champion against someone who’s very hot right now in Red Velvet. We can assume Deeb is back to wrestle Thunder Rosa who’s thrown out the challenge 2 weeks ago. But Deeb can’t look ahead right now and has to focus on her opponent who’s very hard to put down. Red Velvet has been in a couple big matches vs Jade Cargill and has been very impressive in those outings, so let’s see what she can do against someone who isn’t 6’0 and doesn’t have jacked muscles all over her body. Expect a very fast paced match but the slower the match gets the more it favors the Women’s Champion. So will it be Deeb vs Rosa at DON or Velvet vs Rosa? Let’s just wait and see.

AEW Word Tag Team Championship Match

Young Bucks (c) vs Varsity Blonds

After ending SCU for good last week Nick and Matt Jackson look to send the Varsity Blonds all the way down the rankings. While the Varsity Blonds look to pull off one of greatest upsets in TNT history by taking down the greatest tag team of all time while they’re hot. A cool little fact here is that one of Brian Pillman’s last championships he won was the WCW World Tag Team Championship on TNT as the Varsity Blondes. And Brian Pillman Jr 1st championship could be a World Tag Team Championship as the Varsity Blonds on TNT. But the Young Bucks don’t care about your history or any sob story because they’ll just keep your face off with a superkick. Let’s give some love to Griff Garrison, the big man of the group and has a chip on his shoulder and try to earn himself a full time contract here at AEW. The Bucks are riding high after beating an undefeated SCU and are looking to run over the Blonds on route to Double or Nothing where they don’t have a match yet but you can bet this will be as good of a match as any Young Bucks match ever.
