Rangers defeated the Minnesota Twins 6-3 in extra innings. Kyle Gibson had a decent game going 8 innings only allowing 3 hits and had 8 strikeouts going up against his former team. Unfortunately 2 of them were home runs so he ultimately gave up 3 runs also. Byron Buxton hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 1st inning which was his first and last hit and Willians Astudillo hit a solo homer in the bottom of the 5th inning which was also his only hit. Twins had 4 hits as a team. Twins are now 0-6 in games that went to extra innings this year.
Rangers were down 3-1 entering the ninth. Taylor Rogers was trying to pitch the save for the Twins. Willie Calhoun started off the inning with a home run. Charlie Culberson followed with an infield single. Then Andy Ibáñez pinch hitted for David Dahl and got a single. Then Jose Trevino advanced both runners with a deep fly out. Then Ian Kiner-Falefa hit a sac fly to bring in Culberson to tie the game . It was a close play at the plate but an unfortunate throw allowed Culberson to tie it. Joely Rodriguez downed Twins in the bottom of the 9th with a 1-2-3 inning. Lowe lined out to start the 10th then García followed it with a 2 run homer. Then Gallo hit a double. A groundout by Calhoun brought him to 3rd and Culberson hit a double to bring him in. Then in the bottom of the 10th Kennedy pitched for the Rangers and gave up a single to start off. Then he got a strikeout and then Astudillo grounded out and it was a double play. Rangers completed the comeback and still have 2 more games vs the Twins to follow. Hyeon-Jong Yang and Jordan Lyles will be the pitchers for the Rangers the next 2 games.
