Heat beat the Spurs 116-111. With the win Heat sweep the season series 2-0. This was a much needed win for the Heat. Heat remain the 7th seed with the win and Spurs stay at the 9th seed. As of right now both teams would be playing in the play-in tournament. Miami shot 51% from the field a good shooting night for them while the Spurs shot 47% from the field. Miami redeemed themselves from a loss to the Bulls on Monday night. This win was Erik Spolestra’s 600th win of his career.
Miami jumped out to a 14 point lead in the 1st quarter but the lead didn’t hold for much longer. The Spurs took the lead in the 2nd quarter and would have had the lead going to halftime if it wasn’t for Goran Dragic’s buzzer beating banked in three pointer. Heat builded on this lead in the 3rd quarter and held on late in the 4th quarter. Jimmy Butler’s 2 free throws with 21.7 seconds sealed the win. Jimmy Butler lead the Heat with 29 points and added 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Bam Adebayo had 21 points along with 11 boards. Kendrick Nunn, Goran Dragic, and Dwayne Dedmon all had 18 points. Dedmon has really given the Heat good minutes coming off the bench since he has joined the team. For the Spurs Dejounte Murray lead them with 22 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds for a triple double. Demar DeRozan had 20 points and Lonnie Walker IV had 18 points. This was a much needed game for both teams and Heat was able to capitalize on the opportunity. Spurs play at Celtics next on Friday and Heat play at Cavs on Saturday.
