Los Angeles Chargers: Two Days Out Mock

Since we are just two days out from the NFL Draft, we can make some fairly educated guesses and predictions as to what the Chargers are going to do. In theory, the priority goals will be finding a franchise left tackle to protect quarterback Justin Herbert, and an outside corner to pair to Michael Davis. We also know that nearly every year the Chargers reach on a Notre Dame prospect, so it’s a pretty safe bet that the Chargers go after one again this year. My favorites from that group would be tight end Tommy Tremble on day 2, or one of their interior linemen, Aaron Banks and Tommy Kraemer, as day 3 picks. In addition, it was just two years ago when the Chargers spent three of their seven picks on non FBS players, two on Notre Dame players, and their last two picks on mid major defenders, contrary to last year the Chargers selecting players from six different football power houses. Two years ago they had one of the weakest drafts in recent franchise history, and last year was one of their strongest drafts in recent franchise history. So don’t be too surprised if Tom Telesco has seen that and decides to reach on some “power five” prospects over players from smaller schools. All in all, the NFL draft is quite unpredictable, it’s a crap shoot to predict it, and it’s a crap shoot by the NFL General Managers actually selecting these draftees. To the best of my ability I have composed four different scenarios that I can envision playing out for the Chargers throughout the draft by using a combination of team needs, scheme fits, and Telesco’s recent draft history. I hope you enjoy them!
