The Knicks nine game win streak spanning over two weeks came to a screeching halt last night in MSG. The final score was 118-110, and we are now 34-28, still one of the best records we’ve seen since I’ve been watching basketball. After holding a lead through three quarters, the Knicks allowed the Suns to go off in the fourth quarter, losing us the game. Of the three keys I listed, we hit on zero of them, but still put up a good fight against an amazing team, and for that I am proud to say the least.
Suns star Devin Booker dropped 33 points on us, and in dominating fashion. Chris Paul also had an absurd 20 points, five rebounds and six assists, one of the things I said couldn’t happen. Besides the duo combining for 53 points, Mikal Bridges put up 21 points as well, having there starters going insane against us. Cameron Johnson and Cameron Payne both put up eleven points, so stopping people named Cameron needs to be our next duty on the agenda. Besides letting them score regardless, they scored more efficiently. They shot 41.2% from behind the arc, 54.2% from the field, and 82.4% from the charity stripe making 14 free throws in the game compared to our eight.
Julius Randle didn’t have his greatest night of all-time last night. Randle scored 18 points, six rebounds and four assists in 38 minutes of action. Not incredible, but certainly not bad by any means. RJ Barrett played 45 minutes and did his job, but not as well as most fans would’ve hoped. In those 45 minutes he scored 17 points, a number that needs to be consistently hitting over twenty. Reggie Bullock came out of nowhere dropping 17, proving he is doing his job well in the rotation. Immanuel Quickley finally got to play more than ten minutes, playing 21 minutes total, scoring eleven points including a shot five or more feet behind the three point line. The MVP for the Knicks tonight was, shockingly, Derrick Rose. In 33 minutes, bench point guard an former MVP Derrick Rose scored a team high 22 points, while also grabbing six rebounds and having six assists. I wasn’t expecting much from the D-Rose trade, but he is proving me wrong by all means, and I am happy. I am proud of our Knicks, going 9-1 in the last ten, and looking better than ever against the second best team in the league record wise.
