Mets and Nationals series recap, Hope for Mets hitters

The New York Mets took on the Washington Nationals in a 3 game series this past weekend. The Mets took 2 out of the 3 games and they did it in classic Mets fashion. The first game which was Friday night Mets fans got to witness another Jacob deGrom masterpiece. deGrom racked up 15 strikeouts in 9 innings while only allowing 2 hits. To make it even better Jake racked up 2 hits and an RBI. The Mets finally got Jake the run support he needs with Brandon Nimmo bringing 4 runs and Dom Smith bringing in another. The Mets would go on to win 6-0 and along with Mets fans I was finally thinking the no hitting spell was over.

Game 2 was not pretty at all, with Marcus Stroman taking the mound he had his worse start for the Mets this season, in just 4 innings pitched Stroman gave up 4 earned runs. Hitting wasn’t much better the Mets only had 6 hits in the game. They lost to the Nationals 7-1 to drop game 2 on Saturday.

In the final game of the weekend series the Mets took down the Nationals 4-0. Taijuan Walker got his first win with the Mets, he pitched 7 innings while striking out 4 batters and allowing 0 runs. This was Walkers best start as a Met so far, both JD Davis and Pete Alonso homered in this game and the Mets got the much needed bounce back from an ugly loss Saturday. The Mets will be back on Tuesday for a small 2 game series against the Red Sox.
