Oh boy, NBA fans are mad right now. The Nets have signed PF/C Lamarcus Aldridge via the Buyout Market. He was bought out by his previous team, the San Antonio Spurs. There’s a lot of positives and some men’s about this signing. Before we get into that, let’s figure out how we got here. The Nets, Lakers, Clippers and Heat were all in on it for the big man. His final two were reportedly the Nets and Heat. He had chosen the Nets instead of the Heat because of the Heat’s recent losing streak. Aldridge is a great depth piece for this team but he’s not as great as everyone is making him out to be. We need rebounders and defense. He’s averaging only 4.5 rebs per game and hasn’t played this great this year. However, he was a main option in San Antonio. In BK, he won’t due to our big three so maybe that’ll help him blossom into a better player. This is a clear ring chase move by Aldridge but Nets GM Sean Marks continues to be the best GM we’ve ever had. If he turns out to play well, then this was a great move since he signed a vet minimum. Something to keep an eye on is that we still have our MLE (Mid Level Exception). Therefore, there is a roster spot open that we can spend $5.7M on. GM Marks is always making moves. I hope LA works out with the Bad Boys in Brooklyn. Here are LaMarcus’ measurements and stats in 2021:
- Age: 35
- Height: 6’11”
- Weight: 250
- PTS: 13.7
- REBS: 4.5
- BLKs: 0.9
- ASTs: 1.7
Achievements:
– 7x All-Star
– 5x All-NBA
– 2006-07 All-Rookie
