After an ugly win over the Minnesota Timberwolves the Knicks continue their home game stretch against the Golden State Warriors. The Knicks improved to 15-16 after their win on Sunday against the T-Wolves, and they are facing a 16-15 Warriors who lost a close one on Saturday to the Hornets 102-100. They were without their franchise point guard Steph Curry, who was out with illness and is probable to return against the Knicks tonight. They were also without James Wiseman and Kevon Looney, both questionable for tonight’s game. On the Knicks side of things, we are healthy besides Mitchell Robinson, and are looking like we will have the same squad that we did on Sunday. The Knicks are currently the 7th seed in the East and are looking to climb the ranks of the Eastern ladder. The Warriors are 8th in the West, fighting to stay in playoff contention without the second star of the team Klay Thompson, who has missed the whole season with an achilles injury. The Knicks definitely have a shot against this Warriors team but need to key in on three things to beat this team. Those three things are: Stop Curry at all costs if he’s playing, limit all three point shooting, and just like last game, they can not fall apart late.
If Stephen Curry is back from illness for this game, he needs to be stopped. He is playing MVP caliber basketball statistically and can drop 50 points on any given night if he chooses to. If different guards such as Barrett, Rivers, and Payton can all rotate and stay on Curry all night, it is one big part of us winning, but is easier said than done. The Warriors have other stars who show up out of nowhere if Curry doesn’t shine, and in true Warriors fashion, it is from the three point line. Thibs rotations are iffy at best, something he needs to capitalize on in this game. Lastly, this game can really go either way. Two teams who show up and slow down out of nowhere, and if the Knicks can pull off one of their signature big leads, they can’t let the Warriors get back in control. These two teams have faced off earlier in the season and the Knicks prevailed 119-104, but both teams have changed significantly since this win. Knicks have a chance to win this, but if I was a betting man, I’d sit this one out. Go Knicks!
