New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers || Game recap || Game notes || Thursday, December 24th

Well… that was disgusting.

The New York Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday 121 – 107. Despite putting up a valiant effort in the first half, the Knicks completely collapsed in the second half after the apparent Immanuel Quickley back spasm which sidelined him for the rest of the game. Not only did the Knicks lose their only floor spacing Point Guard they were also forced to play small ball early with both Mitchell Robinson and Nerlens Noel falling into foul trouble early. But there was some good in this game as RJ Barrett went off, shooting 11/13 for 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists on an incredible 73% field goal percentage.

Game Notes

  1. RJ is finally the #1 option

RJ just looked different this game, he looked decisive and mentally prepared taking the most shots on the team with the best efficiency,

2. Julius Randle has become a better and more willing passer

Randle racked up 9 assists this game and while most of these were empty stat-padding it’s clear that Randle is focusing more on distributing the ball and less bonehead 360 jump pass into the 5th row

3. Alec Burks is a bucket getter

During the second quarter, Alec Burks went on this stretch that just made me say “wow”. The man could not be contained. He was scoring at all 3 levels and doing it efficiently.

4. Elfrid Payton is still horrible

When Elfrid hit that 3 early I had hope for one second that maybe Elfrid has changed and dare I say it… improved. I was wrong. His +/- was poor to the point where I’m not even gonna type it… but even without looking at the stats, you could clearly tell he was the worst player on the court today.
