Today is a big day in Yankee news, bad and good. Stanton suffered a grade 1 hamstring strain, but with Yankee luck, chances are that this will become a more significant issue, and he’ll be out for a long time. Stanton started the year off flaming hot and looked like his former MVP self. He’s recorded 3 HRs, 13 RBIs, 1.038 OPS and .293 batting average so far this year. However, it’ll now be cut short since this injury has hit. We all saw an injury coming, it was inevitable; but now we have to hope for the best. I would go on a rant about the big money he’s getting paid to play, but it’s unfortunate and inevitable. As you know, this isn’t the first significant injury he’s had as a Yankee. This is a common event, and here is his past injury history:
Now, moving onto the kid Clint Frazier. This is Clint’s newest opportunity to show himself. In my opinion, Clint has the talent to be a great player, and he now has to prove it. The Yankees quite honestly shouldn’t trade him; unless you’re getting a phenomenal player, but even at that, I’d be hesitant. In his short Yankee career, the Red Thunder brought 16 HRs, 100 hits, 56 RBIs, and a .254 batting average in 123 games. It’s not bad for a rookie outfielder. Sadly, he won’t make his anticipated 2020 debut for the Yanks in the outfield or even as DH. The lineup just came out, and here it is:
The big issue and question is continued to be asked, will Clint play at OF or DH? And if he’s in the OF where will he play? Here’s the answer: ANYWHERE! The only outfielder that should start over him is Judge (Stanton injured). Tauchman is in that same boat, he should start as well. I mean Hicks is good and all, but I’d like to see Frazier and Tauchman instead. Why would Gardner at age thirty-SIX start over a young prospect, or even start most games with an awful .206 batting average? He’s not an everyday starter anymore, BOONE! They are mocking Frazier, and it’s not a good idea. There’s a chance Frazier and Tauchman can be put into the game but this isn’t likely. This is an absolute shame. It isn’t very reassuring. Frazier and Tauchman should both start tomorrow in Game 2 versus Atlanta. If they don’t, it’ll be an awful idea and look for the Yankees. This has been Jose Calderon III with FiveBoroughDispatch; have a great day, everyone!
