The Jamal Adams Saga is OVER! I did not think that it would come down to trading Adams away. When I heard the news, I was heartbroken and quite shocked. But, enough about me, let’s talk about the trade. In exchange for a disgruntled safety, who made it abundantly clear he doesn’t want to play for the New York Jets, and a fourth-round pick in 2021, we received not one, but two 1st round picks in 2021 and 2022, a 3rd round pick in 2021 and Bradley McDougald. For the long-term, this seems like an absolute fleece. All they have to do is hit on all the draft picks. The NYJ got more for Jamal Adams than what the Raiders and Jaguars got for Khalil Mack and Jalen Ramsey. That’s shocking because you look back on the trade for the Raiders. It wasn’t exactly bad. The Bears made one run in the playoffs since trading for him, and the Raiders got a great young talent in Josh Jacobs and Damon Arnette. The interesting part is they originally received Blessuan Austin but traded the pick to NY. So far, the Jaguars already drafted a great OLB in K’Lavon Chaisson in the Ramsey trade. These trades usually help the team who loses the star players because they get a haul of picks, but with the Jets, it’s always the opposite. At least, the locker room looks better because after what Jamal said about Coach Gase, it didn’t look too good. This trade was honestly necessary, and Joe Douglas surely showed he’s the General Manager the NY Jets need. Not only did he get those picks, but also a replacement. Great trade, but let us dive into Seattle’s Point of View on this trade.
Seattle Seahawks P.O.V. :
General Manager John Schneider has shown he doesn’t like the first round at all; in the last three drafts, he’s drafted: LB Jordyn Brooks, DE L.J. Collier, and RB Rashaan Penny. He picked Penny when Michel was available. He picked Brooks when Queen and Baun were available, so maybe this was the right trade. Many also say since Seattle are contenders, the draft will feel like early second-rounders. I disagree respectfully because there are always late first-round gems—for example, T.J. Watt and Ryan Ramyzck, Lamar Jackson, Terrell Edmunds, and many more. Yet, again this is a tremendous big-name acquisition for the Hawks. Adams makes a great group alongside Bobby Wagner and Shaquill Griffin. The Hawks now have someone who can lock George Kittle down.
New York Jets P.O.V. :
The Jets may have gotten rid of yet another All-Pro talent, but the team chemistry looks much better. Bell went head to head with Adams on twitter, and it was quite the scene. The newly acquired safety, Bradley McDougald, seems like quite the teammate. At least we don’t have to worry about Adams’ shenanigans. His departure wasn’t classy at all. He had this to say about Jet fans:
The GIF was someone saying “You MAAAAD,” and it was directed towards Jet fans for the way they responded to the trade. Honestly, it doesn’t matter what you get in return; the immediate reaction to seeing your top player traded is a mixture of shock, anger, and disappointment. I honestly think he handled this very inappropriately and immaturely. Before this, he went at it with Le’Veon Bell on twitter. It got heated, but Adams took it very lightly. It’s going to be interesting come Week 14. If Le’Veon resumes being like he was in his prime, then the Jets can win. It’s relieving that Adams is gone, and on behalf of the New York Jets, I wish Seattle good luck. If they don’t give him his five years, $100+M soon that trade will look gross. I don’t know where they get that money from since they paid Wilson and Wagner career contracts, but it’s now their issue. We’ll see what Gregg Williams can do with Marcus Maye, Bradley McDougald, Ashtyn Davis, Javelin Guidry, and Lamar Jackson (the defensive back). I still am astonished they got two first-rounders, a third-rounder and a starter for a safety. Absolute steal, Jets fans should be ecstatic.
