Best Number 3 in NY Sports History

Many greats have worn the number 3 in NY Sports History. Here are the nominees for each NY Sports Team: Babe Ruth (Yankees), Bud Harrelson (Mets), Pete Gogolak (Giants), Jay Feely (Jets), Adam Pelech (Islanders), Harry Howell (Rangers)

The best number 3 in NY Sports History goes to The Great Bambino. After Babe Ruth arrived in New York after 5 years with the Red Sox. Babe Ruth did everything: he had 2,873 hits, and held a career 2.28 ERA. He led the AL in Homers 12 times throughout his 21 year career, and won 7 total World Series, 4 of which came during his 14 year stint with the Yankees. His number 3 was retired by the New York Yankees, and was a first ballot HOFer. Babe Ruth is one of the best players to hit an MLB field, and this is an easy pick to be the best Number 3 in NY Sports History.

Honorable Mention: Bud Harrelson

Bud Harrelson played Shortstop for the New York Mets from 1965-1977. Harrelson won the 1969 World Series with the Mets, and he was a two time All Star. He also won the 1971 Gold Glove, which is awarded to the best fielder at a certain position.
