The Jays are Coming and the Yankees need to be Ready

Now after the 2020 MLB Draft the Blue Jay drafted the supposed 2nd best player in the draft, Austin Martin is a right handed power machine at the plate. Austin Martin has the potential to be a very crucial part of the Blue Jays path back to October, Martin is very disciplined at the plate and that results in him getting on base more often than most power hitters. Scouts have said that Austin has that MJ motor for winning and won’t allow anyone on his team half ass anything on the diamond. If I had to compare him to a current MLB player it would have to be Mookie Betts because of the impact he can have with the bat, Betts and Martin both have similar swings and good at pulling the ball. I could see Martin coming up to the big leagues by 2023-2024 if he can develop correctly in the great minor league system the Jays have.

More Future Talent: Now around the time Austin Martin gets called up I could see the Jays making a run at a playoff spot but not head to head competition to the Yankees just yet. The Blue Jays have 3 players they will be coming up that are in the top 100 prospects according to MLB.com. Nate Pearson is a right handed flame throwing starter who is ranked 6th in the pipeline (Ranking system). Nate Pearson has drawn comparisons to Nolan Ryan which is big praise for a 23 year old, Pearson was projected to hit the big leagues in the 2020 campaign and will be unlikely he’ll come up if the season starts, Pearson can hit 104 MPH as a starter which is unheard of. Pearson’s fastball will make him a very successful starter and will give Gerrit Cole and Blake Snell a run as the best pitcher in the AL East. Pearson also has an above average slider which can be filthy and also has an above average curveball and changeup. Then the Jays have Jordan Groshans (75th) and Simeon Woods Richardson (98th) but I really don’t know a lot about those guys so I won’t go into those players.

The Current Jays: Well we already know the big three that the Jays will be building around and those names are Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette, and Cavan Biggio. All these three young men are sons of MLB greats and I think they will have what it takes. Vlad has shown bits and pieces of his greatness but definitely not dominating like he did in the minors. Bo has exceeded his expectation since coming up to the big leagues. And Cavan has been average for the most part. The Jay also have good side pieces like, Randal Grichuk, Ken Giles, Matt Shoemaker, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, and the newly signed Hyun Jin Ryu.

How you’re asking “why do you think the Yankees should get ready for the Jays?” Well coming from a Yankee fan I’m low key got kinda nervous once Austin Martin dropped to them in the draft. Also Vlad and Bo are only getting better over time and I’m expecting Bo to be a top 5 SS very soon while I expect Vlad to grow more as a MLB hitter and not looking for a 500ft bomb every time at the plate. If the Jays can get the Vlad that dominated the minors he can become the Pete Alonso of the AL and just hit nuclear bombs in Toronto. Be ready for the AL East to take over the MLB. But for my Yankees BE READY FOR THE JAYS.
