From the Barclays Center to Madison Square Garden the possible story of Kenny Atkinson!

Per Ian Begley of SNY sports former Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson is expected to interview for the Knicks’ head-coaching position.

Since being fired by the Brooklyn Nets in early March after just four years of being their head coach, Kenny Atkinson instantly became the coach to have out of this year’s coaching prospects. Atkinson has shown he possesses the ability to develop young talent at an elite level, for example, D’Angelo Russell and Caris Levert. When D’Angelo Russell arrived in Brooklyn from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Timofey Mozgov trade he was immature and underperforming averaging just 14.3 PPG, 4.0 APG, and 3.5 RPG. However, in just 2 years of playing under Kenny Atkinson D’Angelo Russell rose to an All-Star caliber player and a locker room leader. Another example of Kenny Atkinsons elite player development is in Caris Levert, in every year Levert has been coached by Atkinson he has improved in every major statistical category. The knocks against Kenny Atkinson include a .383 W/L% in Brooklyn and that he relies on the game plan too much. With that being said I would be ecstatic if the Knicks were able to land Atkinson he would help develop our young core and spice up the Knicks and Nets rivalry even more.
