When Dave Gettleman and the New York Giants organization decided to draft Oshane Ximines in the 3rd round with the 95th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft fans did not know what to expect from him. Many automatically wrote him off due to playing at Old Dominion in the CUSA conference while some looked at his statistics and were excited because of his ability to get after the Quarterback. After his first season in the league, the fans who wrote him off may seem like geniuses as of right now, but what if I were to tell you hopeful fans that Ximines is in for a huge year next year. I believe Oshane Ximines is in for a big year for 2 reasons the first reason being Markus Golden may not be a New York Giant in 2020. As of right now, Markus Golden is under the May 5th tender placed upon him by Dave Gettleman in early May which allows the New York Giants to receive compensation in the following Draft if any team were to sign him. However, I fully expect Golden to be signed due to proving he can get after the Quarterback by having 2 double-digit sack season in his 5-year career. The second reason why I believe Ximines will have a breakout year is that he will not have to fight for snaps. In 2019 Oshane Ximines played only 45% of the snaps and ended the season with 4.5 Sacks, 9 QB hits, and 5 tackles for loss on an astounding 0% missed tackle rate. With a Markus Golden signing almost inevitable Ximines now only have to compete with Kyler Fackrell, and Lorenzo Carter for snaps, and I would assume he would win that battle.
