Why the New York Knicks should look into trading for Chris Paul.

With the 2020 NBA season on hold and many speculating it may be canceled until October, I believe it is now time to start focusing on the offseason.

Why make this trade

Coming into the 2020 offseason there was one glaring hole within the New York Knicks roster the Point Guard position. Ever since the end of Linsanity, the New York Knicks have struggled to find a long term solution at Point Guard trying out many different players at the position; trading for Derrick Rose in the 16/17 season, drafting Frank Ntilikina in the 2017 draft, and trading for Denis Smith Jr in the Kristaps Porzingis trade in early 2019. Thus far all these attempts have been futile with all these attempts being busts. Enter Chris Paul, a proven veteran who has been around the league and has proved he still has lots more in the tank. Many will say why bring on Chris Paul when we have a chance to pick a Point Guard in this year’s draft here’s why. Chris Paul has shown the ability to help develop young talent as he did with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in 2019. Chris Paul may also help put us back in good graces with free agents.

What I would offer

  • Kevin Knox
  • Moe Harkless
  • Reggie Bullock
  • Taj Gibson
  • 2020 Clippers 1st round pick
